Two of my favorite writers, Julie Otsuka and Peter Cameron just gave lovely endorsements for Forgotten Country. I’m so excited–I have such giant literary-crushes on both of them! If you haven’t yet, you must read Julie Otsuka’s magnificent novels When The Emperor Was Divine and The Buddha in the Attic. And Peter Cameron’s Someday This Pain Will be Useful to You, and The Weekend, which are perfect, gorgeous books: he has a new one coming out in February called Coral Glynn (can’t wait!).
My first blurbs came early last spring from Alexander Chee, Alison Lurie, and Kate Walbert, and I’m still swooning because I worship these writers. If you haven’t yet, check out Edinburgh by Alexander Chee (and he has a new book coming out soon that I’ve been waiting and waiting for), Foreign Affairs by Alison Lurie , and A Short History of Women and Our Kind by Kate Walbert. They are tremendous.
***Update 11/4/11: Another quote just came in from Cheryl Strayed, whose memoir Wild will be coming out with Knopf in March 2012. She is author the novel Torch, and I have loved her writing ever since I read her astonishing, heartbreaking essay, “The Love of My Life”.
**11/16/11: Awesomeness– Justin Torres, author of the phenomenal We The Animals just gave a quote. Happiness!
